On Wednesday December 6th the Energy Efficiency Awards 2017 will be awarded in the London Hilton Park Lane. It is special that Dutch consultancy firm Van Beek from Arnhem is one of the nominees.
Marks & Spencer from the United Kingdom and integral energy management specialist Van Beek from Arnhem, The Netherlands have been working together for 10 years now to realize energy reduction in the 600 M&S department stores in the UK. And that is not without success. Since 2007 the department store giant had already achieved a 40% reduction on energy use. And now they are working together to achieve a 60% reduction on energy use in 2025. This year they are nominated together for the Energy Efficiency Awards 2017, a reward for a sustainable cooperation.
Marks & Spencer “Plan A, because there is no Plan B”
To handle the challenges of the 21st century, Marks & Spencer has introduced an ecological and ethical plan in January 2007: Plan A (because there is no plan B). In this plan 100 social and environmental goals are defined. Most goals have already been achieved, but that is not enough for Marks & Spencer. In 2014 Plan A 2020 was introduced with the ultimate goal to become the most sustainable department store chain in the world. Very recently this received an ambitious continuation in Plan A 2025.
